The 2024 participants

The object of desire since 1923 - the Cup!

With Kärpät Oulu, HC Fribourg-Gottéron, Team Canada, the Straubing Tigers, Dynamo Pardubice and the defending champions HC Davos, the 96th Spengler Cup Davos once again has an extremely attractive field of participants.

Straubing Tigers

The DEL is back at the Spengler Cup Davos. With the German top club Straubing Tigers, a team from Germany's highest ice hockey league will play at the traditional tournament for the first time since 2018.

Fribourg-Gottéron

HC Fribourg-Gottéron, a top club from the National League, will take part in the 96th Spengler Cup in 2024. The club from the city on the Sarine River was founded in 1937 and has been on the hunt for its first trophy ever since. Will the Dragons follow Servette and Ambri’s lead and capture their first big title at the Spengler Cup?

HC Dynamo Pardubice

The six-time Czech champion has constantly improved its Spengler Cup performances, going from last in 1987, to fourth in 2007, to second in the last edition in 2023. Will they make the jump to the top this year?

Kärpät Oulu

The “Stoats”, who will traveling from Oulu 3,000 kilometres away, it will be the first participation at Davos’ traditional tournament.

Team Canada

The last tile for the “perennial favourite” dates back to 2019. As is well known, the tournaments in 2020 and 2021 fell victim to the covid epidemic. But even in 2022 and 2023 Team Canada’s name is absent from the final matchups. For the North Americans, accustomed to success, this represents an usually long dry spell.

HC Davos

Host Davos won its 16th Spengler Cup title in 2023 and is now the record title holder together with Team Canada. This triumph came as a bit of a surprise to many, but HCD had deservedly won a high-quality tournament with four perfect games.
